And More Lunchtime Doodles;
So, yeah, it was just another 5 minute lunchtime sketch thing, this time inside Illustrator, and figureed I'd share it here, like I do so many things (I often have doubts about what I should and shouldn't share here, the I realise, no-one visits this site anyway, so then I feel better) But the funny thing is, the above statistics are not only true, they are actually the american statistic for 2001, Any other year before or since is far, far safer. So top and think a minute about the perceived "Terrorist Threat"? It's kind of mythical beast, likeSanta Claus or the boogie man. It's not real, but that doesn't mean nasty adults won't scare you with the thought of it. It's just not the kind thing that stands up to careful scrutiny, it really is a great thing to make jokes about, except "The Man" knows that too, and even has Warning signs up at Airports threatening to arrest and fine us for the crime of making jokes about terrorism? (Seriously, it's a $5000 fine, so don't be watching "Achmed the dead terrorist" on you Mobile and laughing while standing in the baggage check-in line. But I thought the idea here was "War on Terror"? and, (discounting the fact that War IS Terror), isn't the best weapon against fear, laughter? But then Terrorism is really only a clever emotive buzzword, I mean, can you really imagine being at Career Day at a high school in Afghanistan and seeing a little booth marked "Become a terrorist today" With an old man there to tell you how that with your D+ average, (and a mathematics prerequisite) that this could be the career for you? No, it doesn't happen. But, as scary a prallel as it is, it's hard to draw that image without thinking of that army recruitment booth at the local Career Day. I guess that's 'cos one man's Terrorist is just anothers Freedom Fighter. And, well, perhaps I should stop ranting here. Suffice to say that I'm going to sleep safely in my bed tonight, that is unless the constant fear of Ladders overwhelms me. Cheers, -K
