Belated Birthday

You might be able to tell from the above strip, But I was ill preparedfor the birthday of someone close to me this week.
They're great things those Neuralyzers. I always keep one handy.

It's sort of like, as a man, I'm meant to have amazing powers of mind reading or something.

But, among the many lessons I've learnt over the years is "You can either have something done perfect, or have it done for you"
And the same is true of Birthday presents, You can either get the perfect gift or be suprised with a gift. Not Both, oh sure, we've all recieved 'nice' surprises, but the best gifts I ever got were ones where instructions were provided.

Think it's silly, then why do children write letters to Santa detailing what they want? So clueless parents stand a chance of knowing what is the latest fad and might actually get them something worth having. And here's a hint, It's never Golf Video games, I'm convinced no-one in the history of electronic gaming has ever purchased a Golf-sim for themselves, It's always some misguided relative buying a 'nice' surprise gift, when what we really want is a good old fashioned FPS with a BFG and gratuitous Head-crab attacks.

So yeah, the surprise was predictably the wrong surprise.

But it's okay, along with the neuralyzer I have a plan. Next year, if all my subtle queries about the perfect gift get shot down in flames, She'll get The Musical "Best of" Steven Seagal & Mr T, and Leonard Nimoy, Ballad of Bilbo Baggins.
