Comic-Book TV, Where's the Love?

So I don't watch much TV, and th TV I do watch is decidedly geeky, ie - either cartoons, comic-book related or Sci-fi, though there are also a few comedies thrown in.

And I had the chance to see the Smallville double episode special today, whioch feature the JSA (Justice Society of America) introduces Agent Waller (of Checkmate / Suicide Squad fame) and a whole smattering of "it's not just about those damn green rocks" type stuff, we're talking some of DCs rich history here, and it was frankly the best Smallville has ever been (as long as you forgive a little cheap spandex and cheesy TV movie style fight sequences) And it did make me itch for a proper JSA movie, (especially as it's unlikely the JLA movie will ever surface)

Meanwhile, Heroes, though it has recovered somewhat from previous season lows, it's still unwatcahble drivel, even the tantalising Hayden Panettiere lesbian affair is not enough to lift it from the stinking swamp water depths. ( Oh how I had waited for that, and then for it to be with the funny looking girl from the nanny, why oh why? )

And to get to the point, these are pretty much the only two shows on TV that are aimed at both Adults AND Comic-book fans. Which gets me asking, why is the quality so low. In contrast, Vampires for instance, an area that has spawned countless bad TV shows (and don't even get me started on that Twilight junk) and yet, currently they have True Blood, which is freakishly good television, and even the Vampire Diaries is on par with Smallville (though it's still cheap teen schmaltz).

Yeah, it's dissappointing and well, I've probably babbled enough here, so I'm going to move on, and head on out to watch Daybreakers, I'll let you know what it was like.

Cheers,
-K
